Build Motion One Decision at a Time

AnimBase focuses on the practical foundations behind readable animation, helping beginners work through poses, timing, spacing, arcs, and playback without rushing into unnecessary detail.

Motion Comes Before Polish

The learning approach begins with how an action moves rather than how finished each drawing looks. Clear key poses, useful spacing, readable silhouettes, and smooth motion arcs are tested first. Extra in-betweens and visual detail come later, after playback shows that the movement already makes sense.

How Animation Practice Is Organized

Bouncing balls and basic forms make timing, spacing, acceleration, and squash and stretch easier to observe without complex drawing getting in the way.

Pose-to-Pose Planning

Key poses establish the action first, giving each breakdown and in-between a clear purpose instead of adding frames simply to make the timeline fuller.

Spacing Comparisons

Two versions of the same movement can be compared with different spacing, making changes in acceleration, deceleration, weight, and rhythm easier to recognize.

Arc and Path Checks

Motion paths are checked before polishing so hands, objects, and simple forms follow cleaner arcs instead of drifting through stiff or accidental directions.

Onion-Skin Review

Neighboring frames are compared to spot sudden position changes, inconsistent volume, and proportions that shift unintentionally from one drawing to the next.

Short exercises are watched at normal speed before extra detail is added, keeping attention on readability, timing, follow-through, and the overall feel of the motion.

Small Corrections Build Better Motion

Animation becomes easier to understand when each exercise has a clear question: Are the key poses readable? Does the spacing match the intended speed? Does the action follow a useful arc? Reviewing these details separately makes it easier to identify what needs changing and why.
